ARTIST OF THE MONTH: MAX SUBA
I was born in 1964 and thankfully I was in the presence of two parents who let me use my imagination and taught me to love and appreciate all people on this planet of ours. I think every Saturday morning I watched and envied the artists who created the colorfully bright images I watched for 5 hours while consuming bowls and bowls of sugar infused cereal. I eventually found comic books that really made me think about the universe and my imagination was consuming all it could.
My sketching and painting was all cartoon and comic based for several years. My grandfather introduced me to old black and white movies. They again made my imagination grow larger. The music that played in the background of these classic movies made me appreciate the movies even more. The jazz and blues that I listened to make me love these two genres beyond all others. I started listening to mostly blues music since that was the genre that I most identify with. While doing research for the paintings I have come acrossed several new musicians that I have come to adore. These paintings are a homage to the men and women that have made the soundtrack to my life.
